Title: The Witcher – The last wish
Author: Andrzej Sapkowski

Hi all,
I’ve started with a new novel series, and am quite satisfied that they decided to wanted to film it into a series.
You know what they say, the books are always better than the movies. Mostly because in the book they can explain, elaborate and go into as much detail as they wish, whereas with a movie they have to abide by a time limit and budget. Therefore, since not initially understanding some things in the series I decided to read up.
In the first book you will journey with Gerald of Rivia on multiple different adventures as the Witcher. The stories covered are:
- In Wyzim the saving of the princess that is a striga
- The story of the beast called Nivellen and the bruxa creature
- The magician (Master Irion) in Blaviken and his haunting past
- Geralt in kingdom of Cintra at the order of Queen Calanthe, to aid with making an alliance with another kingdom through the marriage of her daugther princess Pavetta
- The child from pricess Pavetta’s marriage is the blond child from series one, and becomes more important in the second series, because when the Witcher saved the life of Pavetta’s to-be husband he made one request of them (The Witcher profession was dying out, and they needed regrowth).
- Gerald and Dandilion at the Edge of the World in the Valley of the Flowers with the deovel
- Gerald and Dandilion and the djinn
- Gerald and the temple of Melitele
You will follow Gerald on his short adventures facing different challenges along the way all in order to earn coin for his trade of being a Witcher. Also, if you didn’t understand it from the series what a Witcher is, they included a few pages in the book where he explains what their profession is about to another acquaintance/stranger, which helps the layman.
A difference from the series is that they don’t follow the storyline of Yennefer. In the book we comes across bits and pieces where he wishes to reunite with her, and then finally does so in the story “Gerald and Dandilion and the djinn”, which then follows the same path as the series.
One thing I should clarify is that the titles above arent’t the titles to the chapters, but just brief extracts from the story
Summary:
Enjoyed the stories very much and managed to link individual components of the stories better together. The short stories flow into the bigger story line very well. The adventures are with new monsters and the tools of the Witcher Guild are new and unique. I gave the book a rating of 4.35/5
Happy reading!!!
