019-2021 Fifty Shades Freed

Title: Fifty Shades Freed

Author: EL James

Hi all,

I hope so far you could enjoy some of the summer holidays already!

One thing I planned on doing was to take a long road trip with the trains so that I could enjoy more of the landscape and have more time to read in my books since I knew that I wouldn’t get much of that done when I would be touring the city and its hotspots.

My reading companion thus included this book today, together with another book with which I am progressing quite well so far.

You know, when you start reading a franchise you cannot stop in the middle, so that’s where we are now :).

Ana and Christian have married and gone to Europe to holiday to a few different countries for their honeymoon. Back at home Ana was promoted to being the Editor and no longer the assistant to the previous one since he had been dismissed. The two of them are enjoying more of their married life, much of that in the physical sense, and Ana has become more interested in the games from the playroom.

  • This is quite a lifestyle change to the Ana we met in the first book.

Mia, the third sibling of the Grey family has gained an interest in Kate’s (Ana’s room mate and best friend) brother, but the brother is not on the same level just yet. Kate and Elliot (or Lelliot) have also become engaged. The next thing that Ana and Christian are getting up to is to design their future home on the country side.

However, not everything is all sunshine and flowers, because Christian suffered a crash landing in his helicopter in the previous book, and during their trip to Europe someone tried to cause a fire to the Grey servers, which failed as well.

It gets much better, there is a lot more drama and tension in the third instalment because Ana narrowly avoids being kidnapped by her former boss from SIP (who was fired for inappropriate conduct – sexual harassment). Not only that, unexpectedly, Ana has become pregnant. This piece of news entertains you for a few chapters with a lot of drama for many pages.

In the end, a final dramatic event happens, that is the climax to the series, and also is the point you could call the turning point in their lives to end the drama and give way to better pasturs. Find out more on this from the book, haha.

Looking at the character development, Ana has grown significantly as a person since the first book, and has truly turned the former Christian’s world upside down. From the first book she seemed very shy and he very dominant, but from the second and third book she has turned his life upside down and grown so much as a person. Honestly, I think the drama she went through with Christian was a lot to take in.

However, with the final book I am quite impressed of the story in general. How it began with a man who wanted to dominate another person (in a dom-sub relationship), to them becoming a true couple, where spending time with each other has taken a more important role than anything else. Sex aside, if the book didn’t go into as much detail what they were doing in the bedroom (or playroom) the book could still have been a great success. From a psychological perspective, it is very interesting to see how significantly a woman can have an impact in a man’s life, and vice versa.

Summary:

The story is well written, introduces a lot more drama that the characters go through and how both have grown as people since their first meeting in the Grey office for an interview. The book gets a rating of 4.65/5.

Happy reading all!
