Title: Fifty Shades Darker
Author: EL James

Hi all,
I know it’s been quite a time since my last post, but a lot has happened in the last few weeks that I became very distracted. Next to that, have you ever had the struggle of starting with one book, then decided it wasn’t great so you moved to another, only to discover that it was also not good, so you jumped once again. This was one such month.
I finally settled and pulled through with this one.
The previous book ended with Ana (Ms. Steele) leaving Christian (Mr. Grey) since their game went too far for her. It lasts about one week when he offers to take her to the photo gallery of her friend Jose` since she promised she would pay a visit to his opening.
From there it goes better but the drama is always on edge because Ana doesn’t let go to want to know more about his past. They do get back together but no longer as submissive-dominant, but a regular relationship. Christian has declared his love for her and that he doesn’t need his other ‘lifestyle’ as much as he found out he needs her.
They start their relationship differently.
In the meantime, Ana has started with work and her new boss is proven to be difficult. He wants more out of their work relationship but Ana professionally always keeps his approach at bay.
They go on more adventures by going on a boat trip, attending a not-for-profit event.
Oh yeah, the big drama to the story is that one of Christian’s ex-submissive is stalking Ana, and even approaches her, which results in Christian tightening their security.
In the last chapters the story reaches a mind-boggling climax. Lots of drama, from Christian-Ana, Christian-Mrs. Robinson, Christian-Leila (ex-sub) that the reader cannot but be thankful when it all finally is resolved, some of the truth is revealed and Ana and Christian are much closer than before.
Considering how book one started and the kind of relationship the two had then, and then where the two have ended in book two, you realize that book two they are going through more common couple-drama than the drama in the other relationship they started off in. So it is clear that Ana has had such a massive impact on his life, for the good, but it took a lot of drama to get them to that point.
Summary:
I started reading the series for its psychological intrigue. I wanted to understand the mindset of someone who has such a kind of relationship, why they are in this kind of relationship and whether they can get out and have a ‘normal’ relationship.
I have come to realize that people that enter this relationship sometimes find that this gives them release (stress re-lease) from their difficult work environments. But then, the relationship is focused solely on getting some release. Whereas there are also some people who do these activities as a couple to spice up their relationship.
It was an interesting read for psychological interest. I will give the book a rating of 4.7/5.
All the best!
