028-2021 Balance (#3 Matefinder series)

Title: Balance

Author: Leia Stone

Hi all,

I have returned to another series that I kicked off with earlier this year, and have now reached the finale of the series.

From its infancy of a young adult learning about a world of werewolves and vampires that exists alongside the human world (in secret of course) to becoming the second of the pack and also being a witch, fighting against the vampire race, we sure have been on quite a journey.

In this novel the story carries on where it closed off in the second novel. Aurora and Kai are united in their pack and some of the women have become pregnant. Aurora, as the matefinder, has managed to find more mates for different wolves, thus their numbers could start to grow again. Not significantly, but slightly. Further, the end of the second book resulted in a big change in the story, Kai announced their presence to the human race which then resulted in the world having a moment of chaos, but some militia groups joining the wolves to fight off the vampires. This united force continues in the third story as they try to make all possible plans to lure Layla, the vampire queen, out of hiding.

She doesn’t budge and tries other methods to lure Aurora out instead. Not only this, but her side quest is to grow her first born. Since she herself couldn’t carry one, and humans were also not strong enough, the only alternative was to have a wolf become a surrogate. What do you think, would they offer up their co-operation?

Nope.

Thus, to get what she wants she takes them by force and tries to lure Aurora once more. Given her feeling of guilt that so many others have suffered and died for her she makes a drastic decision.

Not only will she try to take the fight to Layla, but this final confrontation brings out the Devi (elemental being) from Aurora so that their battle can restore balance to the world. However, this confrontation will also risk her hosts life to be at risk, since the Devi leaves her host once she has done what she came to do, leaving the body with the soul of the host.

How it ends, that you will need to read up from the book, but the story is definitely a great journey to close off the battle between the vampires and the werewolves.

Summary:

There is less action in the story, but the drama remains strong because Layla is pushing all of Aurora’s buttons to lure her out and Aurora is trying to hold as more and more chaos is unleashed by her nemesis. Even though she will risk her life with the Devi inside her she takes the final fight to Layla so that her destiny will realise. The book receives a rating of 4.1/5.

Until the next book, have a good week!
